The items located on the left of the continuum are the easiest (i.e. are relevant to persons with lower levels of depression); items towards the right are the most difficult (i.e. are relevant to person with higher levels of depression). The PROMIS 51 items cover parts of the continuum (<− 0.75) and around (− 0.50 to 0.00) where the PROMIS 28 item distribution displays item gaps, as well as smaller gaps of the 28-item pool along the continuum
